Why rekupr exists
Healthcare billing, insurance, and benefits are some of the hardest systems in American life to understand, and that difficulty is rarely an accident. Ordinary people are the ones who pay for it. rekupr exists to change the odds.

“I built this so no one has to fight these systems alone.”
Paolo Resteghini, Founder
When a system is confusing, the people inside it tend to lose. They overpay. They give up. They assume the number on the bill must be correct. We are here to change the odds for the average American who never had a chance to read the fine print.
Paolo started rekupr after the Georgia Center for Opportunity, a nonprofit working to lift people out of poverty by clearing the barriers to steady work, strong families, and a good education. The pattern was always the same: a system too complicated for the person it was supposed to serve, and no one on their side to explain it.
Not a mission statement. Just the handful of things we do not compromise on, whatever size rekupr grows to.

Not the hospital’s. Not the insurer’s. rekupr reads every bill from where you are sitting.

Most people paying these bills never had the chance to learn the codes. That should not be the price of a fair bill.

No growth hacking, no dark patterns, no manufactured urgency. Just a tool that tells you the truth about your bill and gets out of your way.
We refuse to accept that reading a medical bill has to feel this way.

Turning bills built to confuse into plain answers.
Medical billing and coding is genuinely complicated, and most clinical teams are doing their best inside it. They are understaffed, overworked, and focused, rightly, on your care rather than the labyrinth of codes and modifiers behind the scenes.
Errors happen because the system makes them remarkably easy to make, even for people trying hard to get it right. rekupr is here to catch the mistakes the system produces, and make sure they do not come out of your pocket.
Duplicate charges, upcoding, unbundled lab panels, missing modifiers.
Plain English explanations from licensed CPT and ICD-10 data, not guesses.
Appeal letters that cite the right regulations, written for the right person.
One bill, caught and cut in half.

An emergency room visit during pregnancy was billed at a high-severity level it did not warrant. Sophie had already run the bill past ChatGPT, which told her the charge looked normal. rekupr read the same line, flagged the upcoding, showed the evidence, and helped fight it. The corrected bill came back at less than half the price.
“After the ER, I just wanted it over with. ChatGPT told me the bill looked normal, so I almost paid it. rekupr caught the upcoded charge and walked me through fighting it. I ended up paying less than half of what they first asked.”
