Your Bill, Translated

The Simple Terms tab is where reKUPR's AI shines. We take complex medical billing language and turn it into something anyone can understand.

What the AI Summary Tells You

At the top of the Simple Terms tab, you'll find an AI-generated summary that provides both a comprehensive explanation and a simple explanation of your bill:

  • What happened? — A description of the services you received
  • What does it cost? — Your financial responsibility explained simply
  • Is anything unusual? — Any concerns worth knowing about

This summary is designed to give you the essential information in under 30 seconds.

Patient Concerns

If you provided context during upload (for example, describing your situation or specific worries), a Patient Concerns section appears in a distinct violet-themed area. This section addresses your personal concerns directly, connecting them to what reKUPR found in your bill. The more context you provide, the more targeted these findings will be.

Key Findings Section

Below the summary, you'll see Key Findings — the most important things we discovered:

  • Billing Accuracy Issues — Potential errors or overcharges
  • Insurance Processing — How your coverage was applied
  • Out-of-Pocket Impact — What you're expected to pay and why

Each finding includes an explanation of why it matters and what you can do about it.

Medical Term Tooltips

Throughout the Simple Terms tab, medical terminology appears with tooltip indicators. Hover over any highlighted term to see a short, plain-English definition. No need to open a separate tab or search for meanings — the explanation appears right where you need it.

How We Translate Medical Jargon

reKUPR translates medical jargon automatically:

What They Write What We Say
CPT 99213 "Standard office visit, 15-30 minutes"
Modifier 25 "Significant, separately identifiable service"
HCPCS J1234 "Injection medication administered"
Balance after adjustment "What you actually owe after insurance discounts"

Using Simple Terms Effectively

The Simple Terms tab is perfect for:

  • Getting quick answers without researching codes
  • Explaining bills to family members who aren't medical billing experts
  • Identifying red flags in accessible language
  • Preparing for calls with providers or insurers

When something doesn't seem right, use the Simple Terms explanation to articulate your concerns clearly.

From Understanding to Action
