Which documents can I upload to rekupr?

  • Medical bill: the statement from your doctor or hospital. An itemized bill, which lists every service and code, gives the most to check.
  • EOB (Explanation of Benefits): the statement from your insurer showing what they allowed, paid, and say you owe.
  • Insurance policy: your policy or Summary of Benefits and Coverage, added on the Insurance page.
  • Replies: letters from your insurer or the hospital, added to your appeal or financial assistance case.
  • Medical record: visit notes or an after-visit summary, where checking a bill against your record is available.

What file types and sizes does rekupr accept?

  • Bills and EOBs: PDF, PNG, JPG, GIF, or TIFF. Up to 5 files for one bill, each up to 20 MB.
  • Insurance policy: PDF, up to 20 MB.
  • Replies: PDF or an image (PNG, JPG, GIF, or TIFF).
  • Medical record: PDF or a C-CDA (CCD) file.

On a phone, you can also choose Scan a bill to take a photo of a paper bill.

What is the difference between a bill, an itemized bill, and an EOB?

A summary bill shows totals. An itemized bill lists each service, date, code, and charge, so errors are easier to find. An EOB comes from your insurer, not your provider. It is not a bill, but it shows what you should owe.

What if I only have a summary bill?

If your bill looks like a summary bill, rekupr tells you and prepares a letter asking your provider for an itemized bill. When it arrives, upload it and we analyze the itemized version at no additional cost.

What if rekupr says my file is not a bill?

We check that each upload is a medical bill or an EOB. If it is not, or we cannot read it, we tell you after the upload so you can try a different file. A PDF from your provider's online account usually works best.

What happens to my original files?

Your original bill and EOB are deleted automatically within 3 days of processing. The analysis we create from them stays in your account, so you can come back to it.
